When Abraham Lincoln was in 1860, there were seven states: These states are: South Carolina (20 December 1860), Mississippi (January 9 1861), Florida (January 10, 1861), Alabama (January 11, 1861), Georgia (19 January 1861), Louisiana (January 26, 1861) and Texas (1 February, 1861). Lincoln was not even on the ballot in nine states in the south. Several leaders from South Carolina have long been awaiting an event that unites the South against the Anti-Slavery forces. Once the elections were certainly a special South Carolina convention declared "that the Union now existing between South Carolina and other States under the name" United States of America "will be dissolved." On 1 February 1861, six more Southe states had seceded. As a result, on 7 February, the seven States adopted a provisional constitution for the Confederate States of America and its capital in Montgomery, Alabama. On 4 March 1861, less than a month later, Abraham Lincoln was swo in as President of the United States. He stated that at that moment he had no intention of conquering the South, but use force to maintain possession of federal property. The South, especially South Carolina, ignored this plea by Lincoln, and, consequently, on 12 April in the south fired on the Federal Republic of troops were stationed at Fort Sumter in Charleston, South Carolina. The fire continued until the troops surrendered. This significant event is what many believe was the beginning of the American war Civial.
