Just for Kids The Magic Bag is a great way to introduce children to Fossils

Just for Kids The Magic Bag is a great way to introduce children to Fossils My long-time enjoyment of earth sciences, especially when you include the fossil, which was in earth sciences for children, since my children were small. So, when my school asked me to choose something to teach for a period of six weeks that I like, this was the first thing that came to mind. E 'was created to be more like a club for a class, so that, while leaing objectives are without doubt the most important goal is to have fun and enjoy ourselves. I knew I should include the activities of fossils in my lesson plans. Should have a lot of hands-on activities for children with an emphasis on fun. When I had my list of class, I saw immediately that I had to make some revisions to my plans: I had a small class, but included many students with leaing disabilities and behavioral problems. These children are not motivated. I knew that my first class would be the most important. I needed a 'work of earth science that students lea? Hook? the question immediately. I saw a young student of the call? Magic bag. Are capitalized into the unknown and its natural curiosity. However, these were the students of secondary schools and in some hard! I knew I d have enough solid, something that may surprise and intrigue. I placed a small velvet bag fossil enough for each student has his. Before yielding to their students, asked them to scan the contents of the bag without opening it. Since the students knew fossil was the topic, I did not? Do not give any details of the contents of the bags. Immediately the air was filled comments? No? S round? ? Mine is like a cylinder. ? Mine? S has ridges. Then, speculation and conjecture? I think it is animal that looks like a clam. ? I think this might be a tooth. ? So what? S a snail? I had the students pass their bags to the next student and compare the observations and conjectures. Finally begging me to open the bags. But before you do, I asked them to tell what I knew of the ancient marine life. There are a lot of images in their minds, and some have been accurate. Then he asked them to imagine that these species could have left fossils. We talked about how fossils are formed. Finally, as the last point, I asked the students to guess the animal in his bag, either by name or species. When finally revealed fossils more applications, in particular as regards the identification and behavior, waiting for reply. If this was a type of research would have been more than enough curiosity to compel students to further studies. In this class, our next activity was to make a real fossil dig, with real fossils. El? Magic bag? earth science activities had students thinking, talking and ready for operations of more fossils. Like children? activities go, The Magic Bag is at the top of the list for ease of use and the enthusiastic participation of students.
