Teachers to explore new methods of teaching literacy in schools in Long Island Sachem School District teachers another professional development activities, through the University of Kansas Center for Research on Leaing. The program is called the strategic pedagogical model (SIM) and looks at how teachers can improve literacy in low-performing youth The teaching of strategic development for over 25 years of research, the SIM card to work to help teachers to recognize as are the lessons that are the most important lessons to target a group of students. SIM philosophy based on four principles:? Lack of knowledge of students can be taught in classrooms. ? Teacher? Employees, or the support of teachers, should focus on helping students develop leaing strategies. ? Subject teachers should organize their lessons, so that the equipment can be understood and accepted by a weak control of the students. ? Students should actively participate in deciding how to lea new strategies. SIM operates on two levels, one to meet the needs of teachers and others to meet the needs of the student. For teachers, the SIM card provides a training method for organizing information in ways that are most useful for students in order to better understand what they have leaed and then be able to use to achieve tasks. For students, the University of coaching develops leaing strategies that can be applied to what they lea in school. These strategies range from forms of written texts, including information and readings of mathematical problems, and ways to deliver information in writing, as is often required standardized tests. Another important element of the SIM card is how it encourages teamwork among teachers, students and parents. In deciding what content to teach students, teachers and students work together to determine what students need information and the best mode of delivery that this is information. This creates a sense of camaraderie in the community of leaing and helps all stakeholders to contribute to the success of students. What is Long Island teachers are saying about the SIM Many teachers welcomed the SIM card, as a practical approach to meet the needs of their students. After seeing a demonstration lesson in writing using the method, Professor Jill Kristoff comments? The SIM card strategy has written a very useful tool for children, teaching them the grammar and sentence structure, and improve their writing, and because it is taught in stages, children of all abilities can do with it? What students from Long Island to say about the SIM students with their teachers that SIM offers a lot of structure for the understanding of what they have leaed. After observing the demonstration lessons conducted at the University of Kansas teacher? Dottie Tuer trainer, said a student? Ms Tuer has helped much conviction. You taught me what it needs a good sentence. Now, my sentences are much better with the details, and are not boring. Another student felt that it had benefited from the demonstration lesson and was proud to participate in professional development of teachers of his experience. Commented:? The educational model combines the strategic guidelines for the No Child Left Behind Act and studies have shown that improving school performance all students.
